Morwen

"In the Beginning, there was the Great Owl, and this Owl laid an Egg. Called it Morwen..." LOL

Seriously... I was born in the late 1950's to a wonderful set of parents, and grew up along the Central Gulf Coast. I was different than my little brother and the other boys in the neighborhood. Life for me was gentle, homemaker-oriented, and pretty much a girl without a skirt. (Well, I did do many musical productions, always cast as the young girl!)

Puberty came, and that's when my life hit a roadblock... I realized that I wasn't a boy! (Radical change in my world-view!)

So, I faked it. I used the hippy-look and being a musician to keep most people away from me. Friends referred to me as a "gentle freak".  My femme self existed in places where no-one knew me personally. Became very accomplished with my femme side and started my academic search for answers to why I was" two" people.

Joined the Navy, (Nuclear Enginneering), and spent nine years roaming the country, SE Asia, and Australia. Yes, Morwen visited those places too!

After the service I settled in S.F. for almost twenty years... the most androgynous person anyone ever met. and continued studying the causes of Trans. Decided to Transition in 1988, but later backed down from that due to the worries of my friends.

Was married to a wonderful woman for 9 years after that, (She knew about Morwen, and I put Morwen away forever.).  But the internal strains of living a fraudulent existance caught up with me. Almost committed suicide in 2001, and immediantly went to my therapist who diagnosed me with GID.

I wasn't sure how far I would go on this GID path, and my wife made my answer by filing for divorce two days later. (We are still good friends.)

I moved home to New Orleans and immediantly accepted what genetics and hormones had produced... I am  a Transsexual woman. (Later found that more accurately, I am an Intersexed/DES-Trans woman.)

Been living fulltime as Morwen for over two years now. Moving right along the Transition procedure that hopefully will be finished in 2006. Even had some jobs here as the girl, and have found acceptance from many non-Trans people. My Betty joined me, and we now have been living in our old home for over two years. (Two old ladies.)

So... that was then. Now my primary focus is on Trans issues with the general public, especially  the gaining of more protections for us all in this society.

We are also working hard to create a more cohesive and outgoing Trans community in this part of the state. Our doors are always open to Trans folks and allies. (And the puter and phone too!)

Let's go have a good time!

Blessings!
